Weekend in Aitkin

A couple of weekends ago we went to visit the Palms in their new home in Aitkin. We had a great time playing some pinochle (girls up 3-1, in case you're wondering), eating a lot of food, playing darts, and the guys did some ice fishing.
Micah was in awe of Alex and Abby.

How could he not be with royal treatment like this..

One year ago today...

It was one year ago today that Kim and I got "the call" that has seriously changed our life. After waiting and waiting and waiting for months and jumping every time the phone would ring, we finally got this call...

Is it a little bit psycho that I took a picture of the caller ID? Maybe. But when your baby is over 7000 miles away and you only have 1 picture and you desperately want to make a baby book you hang on to anything you have, even I guess in my case, the caller ID on the phone. Ok, even when I try to explain it away, it still sounds a little bit ridiculous, but trust me, it didn't seem weird at the time. (I didn't actually take the picture while it was ringing if that helps make me seem more normal).

I remember that I had worked the night before and of course I had been praying a lot for this phone call, but when I went to bed that morning, I remember crying and praying, "God I really can't be patient one more day, I've had it. I really need this phone call to come today." Not that God is subject to my demands, but he heard my cry and answered my prayer. They had a little boy for us and they were going to email us the picture. I called Kim at work and he told me to wait until he got home to look at the picture. I went crazy waiting for him to get home, but finally... here he was..

Seriously, love at first sight.
