Church Christmas Program

We were supposed to have the Children's Christmas Program last Sunday, but since church was cancelled due to the snow storm, we did the children's program during Sunday School instead of during church.
I have felt like a mom for awhile, but I truly felt like I was inducted into motherhood club when I had the sewing machine out at midnight hemming a choir robe.
Here was the finished product. Is it me, or does he remind you of a Monk?

He walked in like a champ.

And behaved for about 6 minutes. But "stand still, don't wiggle and don't talk" 6 minutes is an ETERNITY when you're two. I was in the front row and he made a couple of trips back and forth, but we survived.

Church Program Videos

The kids walked in by height, so you can look for Micah at the end :) He didn't really want to walk up the aisle in practice so I didn't think he would do it with people in the pews, but it didn't seem to phase him. I was so stinkin proud. Kim did the video from the back in the sound room. He had a lot going on back there :)

He puts his bell down, falls over, sways to the music, and yells for dad. And that's all before verse 2.

Santa came!

Santa came to our house a little early. Kim and I had our little family Christmas Saturday because I have to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Christmas weekend, and we are going to be busy all week.

This was one of my favorite moments opening presents. First, because he obviously can't read and I had no idea he knew what Moon Dough was. Second, we have never said anything like, "you better be good or you won't get presents" so I was surprised that he came up with "I am a nice boy" And, you have to listen carefully, but do you notice how, "I am a nice boy" changes to "I was a nice boy" hmmm.

Snow Day

On Saturday Micah's rehearsal for the kids' program at church and a Christmas party that Kim and I were going to go to got cancelled. We had a great day being snowed in. I think we got about 16 inches. I made a turkey, potatoes and stuffing, we played in the snow, watched movies and wrapped Christmas presents.

Christmas Tree and Santa

We got our tree up Thanksgiving weekend. The first thing Micah wants to do in the morning is turn the tree lights on.

I wasn't really planning to do the Santa picture with Micah, but I heard about this Santa at the Mall of America, and I gotta say he was awesome. AND you make a reservation online so you don't have to wait in line and you can take as many pictures with your own camera that you want. Right away Santa said, "Do you like trains?" I thought, "nice job, how did he know that?" oh right. duh. He's Santa.

These are a few of the ones that I took, but I didn't take very many because I was busy being one of "those moms" trying like crazy to get my kid to look at the camera and smile. The one I bought Micah is looking at the camera, but it's kind of one of those annoyed looks like, "what? can't you see I'm busy talking to Santa?"
You can go to http://professorbellows.com/ to make a reservation if you want. Seriously, I don't work on commission for them, just want to pass along a good thing :)

Washington DC Trip

Kim earned a trip through State Farm to Washington DC for a few days. We had a great time and Micah had a lot of fun with Grandma and Grandpa.

I have been to DC before, but this was our first time going to Mount Vernon.

Jefferson Memorial
Lincoln Memorial

Neither of us have ever been to the top of the Washington Monument. You can go to the top for free, but you have to wait in line for a ticket first thing in the morning, so Kim woke up early and walked from our hotel to the Monument and got us tickets.
This was taken from the top of the monument.

Thomas the Train

We went to the St Paul Convention Center to a Model Train Expo. Kim saw the ad in the paper, and we basically went because it said kids could ride Thomas the Train. Thomas is Micah's absolute best friend. He was so excited.
Here is Micah spotting Thomas for the first time. It was so fun to watch his excitement.

He got to sit right in front and bounced in seat with happiness the whole way around the track.

It was actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be. There was just a ton of displays set up and some of the displays were so intricate.

This part was horrible. A thousand little kids playing with trains and train tracks, what could be so bad. How bout 100 kids, but only 5 trains that have working batteries. Check out all the crazy bored parents in the background :)

Turkey Cookies

We made hand-shaped turkey cookies with Micah's hand for Thanksgiving. They were pretty funny. They puffed up and looked more like catchers' mitts.
Here's Micah's cookie: :)
This one has absolutely nothing do to with cookies.. :)
